Lowering the Cost of Healthcare

No family should have to choose between paying rent and getting the care they need. Rex supports cutting expensive healthcare regulations and the red tape that drives up costs for patients and providers alike. Rex believes opening the free market will bring costs down enabling all Alabamians access to affordable healthcare options. Additionally, Rex fully supports price transparency so families know what they're paying for.

Responsible with Taxpayer Dollars

As Chairman of the House Ways and Means General Fund Committee, Rex built and passed a $3.7 billion general fund budget — one that invests in Alabama's future without wasteful spending. He believes every dollar taken from a taxpayer is a dollar that must be accounted for, and he's committed to a state government that lives within its means, just like Alabama families do.

Reducing Taxes on Working Families

Rex believes working families should keep more of what they earn. He supports cutting the state grocery tax, providing meaningful income tax relief, and opposing new taxes that make it harder for families to get ahead.

Supporting Law Enforcement

Rex spent his career in law enforcement, rising from patrol officer to Police Chief and Director of Public Safety for the City of Huntsville. In the legislature, he authored the Back the Blue Act, expanding legal protections for officers acting within the scope of their duty, and helped pass the Safe Alabama Public Safety Package to modernize law enforcement policy, improve officer retention, and crack down on violent crime. Rex will always have the backs of the men and women who protect our communities.

Enhancing Local Education

Rex believes every child in Madison County deserves access to a quality education, and every teacher deserves the support and resources to do their job well. He supports increased investment in local schools, career and technical education pathways that connect students to Huntsville's growing workforce, and giving parents a stronger voice in their children's education.

Supporting our Military and Veterans

Huntsville's strength is tied to its military community, and Rex has never lost sight of that. His service has been recognized with the Commander's Award for Public Service from the Department of the Army and the National Guard's Friend of the Regiment Medal. In the legislature, Rex works to protect the benefits our veterans earned, support military families, and strengthen the partnership between Redstone Arsenal and the surrounding community that keeps our economy strong.

Rising utility bills hit every family, every month. Rex supports policies that keep energy production diverse and reliable, hold utility rate increases accountable, and protect Alabama families and small businesses from unnecessary spikes in their power and water bills.

Growing Alabama's Economy

As Chairman of the House Ways and Means General Fund Committee, Rex has helped drive the budget decisions behind Alabama's economic growth — recruiting new jobs and businesses to the state and strengthening the industries, like advanced manufacturing and aerospace, that make Huntsville a national leader.
